cici's maschera metallica
transformed & in transition

bronze and copper
works
Each mask in this series started from
a sheet of copper or bronze.
As I work to cut out
from the metal sometimes one face appears. Other times multiple
faces emerge from that same sheet of metal.
This series is over 2 years in the making.
Some of the copper masks have been shown at Art Space, New Haven,
CT and Silvermine Artists Guild, New Canaan, CT. You can see (and
purchase) some of the small bronzes at the Labriola Gallery in
Stamford, CT.
The bronze pieces are referred to as
the transition pieces. Each mask is formed from a sheet of bronze
that is then hand manipulated and mounted to an acrylic painted
stretched canvas. These pieces are small and range in size from
4x4 inches to 12x24 inches. The third dimension ranges up to 4
inches.
The copper pieces, while all still cut
and formed from one piece of copper, I have welded them to copper
tubing for extra support and for hanging. These range in size
from 10x10 inches to 36x96 inches. The third dimension (depth)
ranges up to 10 inches.
